Today another 25 marker match is included in the Armstead line. A new surname is added to Hale and Hass — Chilcote. I have emailed Mr. Chilcote to see if his family has any Virginia roots like the Hale line. Chilcote is a habitational name from England. Old English is Cild (young men) cot (cottage). Anscestry.com indicates most US families are in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Only a few are in Virginia. Hopefully additional information will be forth coming. Interesting things do happen as mentioned above. But the Armstead line still has Burgess connections anyway! How? Well Keziah was most likely the daughter of Mary Burgess of the William Burgess line in Bedford County Va. But in addition many of us have other links to the William line.
Three of William and Suzanna Burgess’ daughters married three Mitchell boys in Bedford County. Armstead Lewis, (Armstead/Keziah) married Lucy Mitchell, who was the daughter of Eldred Mitchell. So from Armstead Mitchell down, we have at least two maternal connections to the William Burgess family.
